Any vehicle which is driven by someone carrying out business on behalf of a company is regarded as a place of work and therefore subject to current legislation, this expressly includes the so-called “Grey fleet” of vehicles owed by the employee but used for company business. Some employers believe, incorrectly, that a valid driver’s licence and MOT certificate is sufficient to ensure the safety of their employees and the general public. This could not be much further from the truth. Employers should carry out a driver risk assessment for all drivers in their company.
Every employer has a legal responsibility to make regular assessments of the risks to the Health and Safety of their employees while at work and to take remedial action as and when required, this includes driving for work. However, even though Government Legislation now requires it, only a small percentage of companies have now implemented a Road Risk Reduction Programme. The financial cost of not conducting a driver risk assessment can be substantial.
The cost to industry of work-related collisions is estimated to be £2.6 – £2.9billion per year. Industry estimates vary for the number of companies doing enough road risk management and driver risk assessment but it is less than 33% of companies who have such a policy which puts the remaining 67% seriously at odds with the legislation.
The aim of Drivetime Driver Training Solutions is to help companies, stay on the right side of the Law and provide a cost effective way of improving Safety and Reducing Fleet Costs through road risk management and driver risk assessment.
How do we do this? With your assistance we carry out a Fleet Risk Assessment, to make sure you have all the required Risk Assessments are in place. This is followed by an assessment of your drivers and training if required.
Training can be bespoke to your Company needs and can be provided on site.

On completion of the session a written road risk management and driver risk assessment report will be compiled and signed by both the trainer and participant.
